So, yeah...this is a thing.
Over the last few years I've started talking in public. Sometimes people even pay me for it.
It started in 2022 with a guest appearing on the Wild User podcast discussing the intersection between art, technology and human culture.
Following that I was invited to speak at a tech conference in Lisbon in September of the same year - ostensibly about blockchain culture but given that generative AI was beginning to go mainstream - I devoted my talk to the response of creators to potential displacement by (yet another) disruptive technology.
This became something of a theme...

Six weeks before Chat-GPT was launched I was asked to deliver a presentation on blockchain culture.
The momentum and hype behind generative A.I. had been accelerating throughout the year, and I chose to concentrate my remarks on the response for creators, curators and consumers of culture to the opportunities, disruption and implications of the emergent technology.
Subjectively, this inspired a new creative thematic impetus resulting in a series of new multisensory art pieces that began to reveal themselves later that year.
Beyond that it opened up new opportunities to talk about the subject to wider audiences.

“We asked Dan (Zeitwarp) to come to Lisbon to deliver a workshop on his artistic practice and techniques using modern technologies (augmented reality & AI) inside his process of artwork creation.
The workshop went very well…these were a mixture of artists and technologists interested in learning about the technology and practice. The workshop attracted people from inside of Lisbon and from south of the city with some people traveling over 50km.
“The audience were very engaged, everybody stayed until the end and even at some point everybody stood up to engage with the technology and didn’t retake their seats for the 2nd half of the workshop, something we haven’t actually seen before.
We will definitely be working with Dan again as we continue this collaboration between our entity and the artist and would recommend anyone else to do so.”
