"We make art and artistic objects in a broad range of forms that reflect a set of observations & thoughts about contemporary human existence in our wonderful entropic 'only forwards' universe.
There's a lot of salvaged audio equipment involved and sometimes a few mannequins - and occasionally both.
We hope you enjoy it."
If that's your sort of thing then it would be great if you could take a look at the work - read as little or as much as you want - and maybe sign up for the Outer Limits newsletter at the bottom of the page if you want to know more.
Thanks.

“We were partying hard at the Wilde Möhre Festival near Drebkau in Germany...people danced to the loud and pumping electric music...two pieces of Zeitwarp‘s music note art works were hanging on the wooden walls...majestic and mystically lit up by the flashes of the disco lights and stroboscopes.
Next day, hung over, I bought both paintings...”

NEVER EXPLAIN / WTF?
"Among the themes" of ZWRP artwork are...:-)
If we are going to assign a label to the work produced by ZWRP/Zeitwarp then perhaps the most accurate would be 'Post-Conceptual Garage Art'
'Post-conceptual' in that the work is created with intentional meaning to invite consideration of the underlying themes.
'Garage Art' in that it originates from outside of any formal art structure, education and/or classification.
The (six!) foundational themes can be represented as two interconnected triangular structures:
'Transience / Obsolescence /Transformation' and 'Significance / Attachment /Transmission'.
The surface aesthetic and superficial form both embody and draw attention to these fundamental thematic elements - which in turn are the building blocks of a larger conceptual construct that considers the influence and effects of both a halcyonic past and a dystopian future on contemporary human perspectives.
The technology, culture and economy of music is often the motif to communicate these concepts.

DIGITAL / PHYSICAL / IMMERSIVE / IRL
CROSSING THE STREAMS
A single work can begin as a physical object within an IRL installation. This source object is then reproduced digitally to become the subject of a series of still frame and video collages, before subsequently undergoing further transformation into sound, followed by extended recursive iterations under the FEEDBACK LOOPS methodology.
Ultimately, the initial object finishes as a 'Singularity' - a conceptual display artefact that encapsulates all the parallel timelines & conceptual ideas of a piece into one unique dense physical IRL display object.
Definitely something quantum...
Meanwhile frames captured from the digital manipulations are reproduced as limited edition fine art prints - released in monthly 'ZWRP drops' to members of the Outer Limits newsletter community.
LANDFILL ART
The conceptual ZWRP/Zeitwarp universe is an examination of the subjective and objective reverberations of contemporary perspectives of both an halcyonic Ozymandian past and a dystopian Promethean future on present-day human existence.
Curation, attachment, transmission and significance are key factors and levers operating at a human level within the funnel of this examination. While the effects in terms of economics, society, politics and climate are interlinked and recursive.
Sourcing and repurposing discarded and 'end-of-life' components within the work is - at it's basic level - a micro effort to counter/greenwash/atone for the environmental impact of a 20th / 21st century privileged western life.
There is however more to it.
Transience, obsolescence, displacement and the fetish-isation / commodification of nostalgia have all now entered the chat.
Without further rehashing and revisiting these themes - like a three chord progression on a Ramones greatest hits LP - essentially the ZWRP adoption of a 'Re-Make / Re-Model' philosophy and its Duchampian echoes is a method to encompass the full spectrum of ideas that the work is trying to express - within the componentry of the work itself and the actual process of making it.

ZWRP/Zeitwarp artwork touches on multiple interlinked nodes - physical installation, digital / video art, physical paintings and objects, immersive activations (AR & VR), metaversal, sound/noise. etc.
The common thread is that the source subject of every piece is either a single or collage of real physical objects and images from my own collection of ephemera.
For clarity: nothing is generated by AI or created using 'digital only' tools.
The act of sourcing, collecting, repurposing, assembling and remixing the constituent parts is fundamental to both the subjective creative process and ultimate artistic output.
In the dopamine-driven fallout zone of post-GPT human culture the attention trade is pretty much the last game in town.
("Same as it ever was..." etc. - Salvador Dali might yet have a few tricks to teach everyone.)
If you've read/listened to any of my articles, interviews, speeches, podcasts etc you'll know that - as an early adopter of digital technologies since Web 1.0 - my views on AI are nuanced and involve a spectrum of thought beyond "machine bad". This is irrespective of any consequences for my own practice.
However - as a social media refusenik in a post-antediluvian open-API web - I've decided to make a choice and the ZWRP dimensional dial has shifted over towards IRL / physical work.
There'll always be some digital output - I still love making it - and art prints will still be available as '2D Spinoffs' from each project - however working in three dimensions will be the main focus for the time being.

IN EVERY DREAM HOME
The source material for each object has featured previously in physical, digital and/or immersive ZWRP/Zeitwarp artworks.
The Singularities are their final destination.
One part excavated Ozymandian fossilised historical artefact - one part ultra dense object at the centre of a ZWRP conceptual black hole. A plurality of subjective thoughts and alternative variations coalescing into a unique singular object.
Singular / Plural - Object & Subject - WTF is going on here?
Essentially, the Singularities are a series of IRL display pieces made from salvaged audio-visual equipment that has featured in ZWRP/Zeitwarp work. They represent the entirety of the themes behind those previous works - and are sometimes inscribed with text from the previous iterations.
The series is influenced by the sonnet Ozymandias by Shelley - within the framework of ongoing ZWRP/Zeitwarp themes of Transience / Obsolescence / Transformation (object) and Significance / Attachment / Transmission (subject).
The surface of each object is heavily textured with multiple layers of paint, silica and diamond dust. The display stands are constructed individually from discarded / salvaged audio equipment.
'Re-Make / Re-Model' indeed.

Mannequins have become a substitute / placeholder / analogue for the human form through large parts of my work since the first one appeared mysteriously at home one day in 2021.
My partner - in both ZWRP & life - had brought it home and wanted it converted into a decorative standard lamp - which I eventually completed after some trial and error.
At the time I was also working on a piece for an upcoming exhibition on the theme of transhumanism and the AI singularity displacement narrative. I was looking at this headless mannequin and thought that it could become a motif to communicate the conceptual premise of the piece.
Although this wasn't the first time that I had been creating on the theme of AI and humanity - "AI vs HUMAN" was projected onto the Berlin skyline in July 2021 as part of the Gargantuakünst exhibition - it was the first time I was using a mannequin as a 'human replacement' - which seemed to resonate with the themes of the work.
Within a month the resulting digital piece 'HOMO TRANSRETRO' was not only a featured exhibit at the Rare Effect #3 Exhibition in Lisbon, but had also been displayed publicly on the big screen at the city's main Cais Do Sodré metro hub.
I started collecting more mannequins...the more alien and futurist the better - but broken, distressed and damaged examples of these were the best to fit with an Ozymandian / cyberpunk aesthetic.
Soon the studio was full of them. I began to incorporate them more intentionally within my artistic output as human analogues within a series of work - under the working title 'Displacement Di$co' - that focused on the Promethean tension between humanity and technology.

The penultimate and yet ultimately decisive step was a decade long odyssey into the labyrinth of the furniture business - where utopian visions collide with the realities of uniformity, mass production and climate impact.
It triggered a fascination and hunger for meaning, self-expression and sustainability - leading directly to experiments reworking existing objects and artefacts to represent subjective perspectives, observations and experiences.
The work eventually coalesced around ideas and themes that reflected my lived experience and evolving philosophy to the point where the two were inseparable.
Then you just have to go ahead and make it.

With the algorithms rewarding engagement and 'time on platform', and in an economy where attention mining is an almost fundamental requirement, it's easy to become committed to chasing the dopamine dragon in a hamster wheel existence.
Let's face it, it's probably a bad thing
The problem of course is that the vanity metrics of 'social proof' are often the key to external perception and - in the case of artists, bands, businesses, whatever - the literal difference between success and failure.
Well - if you've got this far - then my hope is that you will judge this 'book' not by the quantity of its algorithmic social footprint but instead by the quality of the 'content'.
Which is a long way of saying "I'm not playing" - or more specifically..."I'm not prioritising Zuck or Elon's game any more". So - maybe until thee is a decentralised co-operative alternative - no, we are no longer active on any social media - passive...yep occasionally...but active...no.
